Post-punk records
Post-punk came out of the late 1970s, when bands kept punk's energy and do-it-yourself attitude but pushed it somewhere darker and stranger, with more room for atmosphere, bass and synths. The Cure, from Crawley, are one of the genre's defining bands, and it's had a big second wind in the last decade. IDLES came out of Bristol, and Fontaines D.C. out of Dublin, so this is a genre with roots on both sides of the Irish Sea. New post-punk records tend to arrive in several coloured variants at once, which makes comparing shops worthwhile. Search the post-punk artists below, and every result links straight to the independent shop selling it.
