Alternative rock records

Alternative rock covers the guitar bands who sat outside the mainstream, or at least started there, from the 1990s onwards. In the UK and Ireland it takes in Radiohead, who formed in Oxfordshire and went from OK Computer to Kid A and beyond, Biffy Clyro from Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, and Wolf Alice in London. Further afield are Nirvana and Linkin Park, and Gorillaz, the cartoon band Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett started in 1998. Alternative catalogues are some of the most reissued on vinyl, with anniversary editions, box sets and new pressings appearing all the time. Search the artists below to see which independent shops have them, and buy direct from the shop.
