Britpop records
Britpop was the mid-1990s wave of British guitar bands who wrote big, melodic, very British songs and took them to the top of the charts. Its peak came in August 1995, when Oasis and Blur released singles on the same day and the race for number one made the national news. Oasis came out of Manchester; Pulp had been going in Sheffield since 1978 before His 'n' Hers and Different Class made them stars. The cover of Oasis' (What's the Story) Morning Glory? was shot on Berwick Street in Soho, where Sister Ray still trades today. Thirty years on, the anniversary reissues and coloured pressings keep coming. Search the Britpop artists below, and every result links straight to the independent shop that has the record.
