About Spillers Records

Spillers Records in Cardiff is widely described as the oldest record shop in the world. Henry Spiller opened it in 1894 in the Queen's Arcade, selling recordings on wax cylinders and shellac discs. It moved to The Hayes in the late 1940s and stayed there for more than 60 years, and since 2010 it has been at 27 Morgan Arcade, over two floors. The Manic Street Preachers have called it the place they got their musical education. Spillers specialises in independent music across most genres on vinyl and CD, hosts listening events for new albums, and is a fixture of Record Store Day: in April 2026 Robert Plant was honoured there as a Record Store Legend.
